Is it possible to record programs? Are there any plans to introduce recording functionality?

The Jme service does not have the capability to record. NHK Japan has not provided permission for customers to record streaming programs over the internet. NHK Japan describes it as follows:

"Currently, NHK does not permit users to capture program screens or audio over internet services due to not getting the understanding from various rights holders, and copyright issues such as portrait rights, and other circumstances."

While recording is not possible, you can watch Jme Select, which broadcasts a carefully selected 8-hour block of programs three times a day, timed to fit the daily schedules of viewers in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, "Historical Drama" is also available on-demand. Programs like 'NHK News 7,' 'News: Good Morning, Japan (6 AM edition),' 'International News Report 2025,' and 'Today's Close-Up' are available for a few days as a Look-Back service. On the Kids Channel, 3 hours of children’s programs, including 'With Mother' and 'Peek-a-Boo' are streamed six times a day, Monday through Friday. On Asa Drama Channel, a week’s worth of episodes of “Omusubi,” “Carnation,” and “Come Come Everybody” are streamed together on Saturdays and Sundays. During the Sumo tournament season, the 'Jme Grand Sumo' channel broadcasts daily matches four times a day.
